Most of you already know the story of how we met but I want to tell it again anyways.
There once was and still is a website called lavalife…the place where singles meet. My friend Erin had signed me up for it, I’m not sure why Pender was on it cause he shouldn’t have had any problem meeting women. It was so long ago I’m not sure who smiled at who first but we got to chatting thru emails first, then thru msn messenger while he was in NFLD with his family and I was in NYC at the time.
It was an unlikely match since I was against dating men with motorcycles and he cancelled our first meeting/date to date some psycho, he was very lucky to get a second chance… but I knew there was something special about him.
So Pender came to SJ some Sunday late in July. I was too nervous to meet a stranger by myself so I had some friends there to make sure he wasn’t a jerk… or to give me moral support if he was the man of my dreams. Pender and I started the date by going to Subway for lunch to get some alone time. Then we picked up Erin and Vicki to go swimming in a river near Erin’s place so I could check out Pender’s… um swimming skills. Not bad at all :)
My friends approved, this guy was not going to kill me, so we took them home.
One of my favorite things each summer is Buskers On The Boardwalk. I just had to take Pender to see them. We ate supper there and then walked around Uptown and thru King’s Square where we first held hands and some crazy guy said something like “Aww, I use to hold my wife’s hand just like that” and then he mumbled a little so we just kept walking. We walked to the next park, Loyalist Burial Grounds and sat under the big trees on a bench, quite romantic. And that’s where he had our first kiss. Not bad at all… it did lead to a second.
By now it’s getting a little late so we head back to my place…not what you’re thinking!!! We went back to get some wood…not what you’re thinking!!! We went to the beach a few blocks away from my house for a bonfire. It’s not a great beach, kinda rocky and the water is kinda dirty there but we brought blankets to sit on. It was a nice evening, we shared a bottle of wine while getting bit by moskitoes. Luckily Pender had some bug spray in the car he used for softball, which made him taste really bad when we kissed.
…And then he left… THE END!!… or was it??? Dun Dun Dun
To be continued….
This is our flash version.
