Left Mah Job..
I just left the oao building for the last time. I was there for over 5 years and did a looooot of programming for them. I’m going to miss a lot of the people there, many of whom I’ll probably never see again.
I’m sad.

I phoned her up last night and she asked when the lease was up, I wasn’t sure but said that we’d moved in on December 1st of last year (so I signed it sometime in November). I said we’d like to move out at the end of October, if not then the end of November. She was very receptive, she said she’d put the ads out for the place and asked us to keep the place and property clean so that she could rent it to someone else. Sounded fine by me, it’d mean we could get out of there sooner if someone else takes the place. She didn’t seem to have a problem at all with us leaving, not like she immediately started freaking out demanding that we pay until the end of December (like I was expecting, for some reason, because I thought every lanlord/lanlady was a jerk/bitch just from what other people tell me).
My mom also called up the friends of da family and they will be letting us stay there periodically to hunt and kill apartments. How nice of them!
Yesterday I submitted my resignation (in an envelope with my patented llama symbol on it) with the current company I’m with and faxed in my signed sheets to the new company. So it’s official-like!
So I guess the plan should be to find a new apartment. I finish at this company on Friday of next week, September 23rd. The following week Hollywood and I will be driving to Halifax (probably in the gas guzzling car) to try to find a nice place to live, preferably downtownish (close to the new work, so we don’t have to drive the rustang around in the winter again). Not sure what day Hollywood has off work yet though. We’re trying to get in contact with some friends of da family to see if we can crash at their place for a day or three to do some proper apartment hunting (with a gun). I start work on October 3rd with the new place.
Today I have to call the lanlady and tell her that we’re moving out (though if she reads this blog then everything will be handled for me!!). Hopefully she doesn’t hold us to the INSANE clause in the lease that says we have to give 3 months notice. If that’s the case then she ain’t gonna be getting anyone move in here until January, which will make it twice as fun for her trying to find someone to move in while it’s snowing. As well, she won’t be showing off the apartment to potential renters. If she lets us out a month early we’ll be more receptive and let her do whatever she wants. So hopefully she’ll let us out of the lease toot-swit (that’s right away, in frenchish). Our roomate Dion says he doesn’t want to try to find people to move into the house, even though it’s a wicked house and with 2 roomates doesn’t cost much at all, plus it’s within walking distance for him to go to work. Oh well, his choice I guess. I GUESS.
Looks like I’ll be accepting a new job in Halifax on Monday. Pays about 25-30% more than my current position, though it costs about 10% more to live there.
We will have to start making preperations to move there and stuff. I’ll be starting there on October 3rd. We’ll probably be moving out of our apartment on October 31st or November 30th (or if we’re really unlucky) December 31st.
Yesterday Hollywood and I went to see the Rolling Stones concert here in Moncton. It was nifty!
We woke up at 8am to clean and get ready to go to the yearly family reunion in Sussex. We had to clean because Alysson and her cousin Julie were coming over to get a ride down to the mall so they could get a shuttle to the stones concert. After we dropped them off we headed for the reunion. It was a good time, lots of old people but I didn’t have to even smell one of them. We mostly just ate, hung out of the swings with everyone’s kids, then went back to Moncton.
We arrived at Moncton and dropped the car off at the Champlain Mall. We got a bus to the Highfield square mall, then got a shuttle to the stones concert. We arrived and found out that we could have brought our little dumb cameras, we just weren’t allowed to bring large professonal type cameras. So no pics, I wish they had bloody said that on the bloody radio or something though. We soon met up with Alysson and Julie at the medical tent, then we stood in line for beer tickets but got fed up, so Julie gave Hollywood her last beer ticket. Hollywood then stood in line for a Beer for 15 mins. After that we walked to a nice spot on the hill and observed the 80,000 people there. The tragically hip played for a while, then after an hour wait the stones played. It was awesome. The size of the stage, which must have been at least 15 stories high, all covered in lights. The giant speakers were so loud that it was actually loud up where we were, in the nosebleed section. It was really awesome. They even played one or two songs that I recognized!!!
After the concert we lined up and got on a shuttle that sat around with us on it for a full hour (because the cops had “lost control of the crowd”). When we heard that statement we figured “riot” but all it meant was that people were walking in front of the bus exit and wouldn’t friggin’ stop so the busses could get out. So there was about 50 busses full of people waiting for the retards to get out of the way. Eventually we got going. When we arrived at the champlain mall we got some Wendy’s, then drove back to our place. Everybody ate then Alysson and Julie got into Julie’s SUV and they drove back to Saint John.
80,000 people is a lot. I can’t even portray how many that is. People had started to leave the stones concert about 50% of the way through it. We had stayed until about 90% of it. When the bus eventually departed there were streams of people all over the sidewalks and roads for at least 10km away from the concert. A constant, thick crowd: EVERYWHERE. It was like, christmas shopping x10 not just in a mall, but everywhere. That’s probably what it’s like every day in New York. I can’t even imagine somewhere even MORE overpopulated than the states, like china or india. Can’t imagine.
Wired News has an article about anime, saying how they’re becoming more mainstream. Yeah, no crap. You turn on YTV at anytime during the day and you have to suffer through yet another pokemon knockoff. Fortunately it talks about Naruto and One Piece coming out “in the United States” (cause like, the rest of the world don’t matter, chumps!). I’ve watched all of the Naruto shows (I’m maybe 5 shows behind) from fan groups translating the show and distributing on the interweb. I’ve also got the entire One Piece series. Now they’re being translated.. Hopefully it won’t be stupid translation with crappy voice acting. The translations I’ve watched actually just have subtitles, but after you watch a few shows you just start believing you can understand japanese, like you are no longer reading. Unfortunately, I’ve already watched about 4 or 5 seasons of both shows so I shan’t be watching them while being interupted by inane commericals to buy dolls that pee, sleep and shit or dolls for boys that shoot imaginary lasers. I think it’s a shame it took so long to come to North America. I mean, they’re both awesome shows and it’s HUUUUGE in Japan, and they’ve already run through a bunch of seasons (is One Piece still being produced? I didn’t think so). It’s almost a case of “too late” with the really hardcore fans, though they should become popular with the more normalish people now.
The point of all this? I like to watch cartoons and play video games, I’m a winner and just wanted to make it known how winnery I am!! weeeeeee!! Though don’t be surprised if you start watching the shows and end up liking them too. Sucka.
