Pender’s Fabulous Journal of Random Stuff and Things!!!!

We drove around for 2.5 hours last night in dartmouth looking at houses. The ones that were around 120k-160k were TINY, for the most part. One of the houses that we were sorta considering looked like it was almost actual size to the picture, it was freeky small. The garage looked like it was 2/3 of the house. We are no longer considering that one. We may end up getting a 180k house, which is pretty much my ceiling of possibility. It would be less of a starter home and more of a for lyphe home. We gotta drive around again (probably this weekend), this time with a camera, so we can take a picture then make a voice note with the picture saying what we thought of the place and if we’d actually care to see the inside (above what mls shows us).

So far we’ve only done any looking in dartmouth. Next we’re going to look around for just outside of town on the halifax side. I’m *trying* to stay within a 15 minute commute to downtown halifax.

MLS is a good resource, but it’s not quite enough.. I still wish I could just knock on these people’s doors and say “hey, can I take a look around?” without having to schedule a stupid time through a realtor and crap.
That reminds me.. must call the realtor.

Welp, another google invention that I think is just marvy is the Google Calendar. One day before it came out I had actually done a search for online calendars and found either crappy free ones, or for pay ones. Coincidence? I think not. They got hard to work and built it for me and I must say, thanks Mr. Google, it’s wonderful!

The calendar sharing stuff is cool. You can overlay your calendar with a buddy’s calendar and compare who has the bigger calendar, with more friends and more things to do, proving your worth as a socialite. The only bug I’ve seen so far is when someone else comments on your calendar, it shows your own name as the commenter. Please get busy and fix that, Mr. Google. Thanks.

They also have event notifications like a popup, email, or even a cell phone message. You can also import from other calendar formats, iCal or CSV (MS outlook) formats, which is neat if you have a previous (inferior) calendar utility you can quickly move over.

I’m planning to use this thing daily. Maybe with notes and comments it will replace my little notebook tingy that I use at work for writing down how to fix problems and stuff that happen on particular days. I’ll write it into my calendar, making use of Google’s search results (which is a might bit faster than me skimming through pages of my book, by inaccurate approximation of 15-18 nano-seconds time savings).

The possibilities aren’t endless!!! but who cares.

Our trip to St. John’s went as goodly as our trip to Saint John. We’re back in Halifax, partying it up by sitting around the apartment wondering what we ever did before our big vacation. The night before last we couldn’t get to sleep until about 1:30am, then our flight left at 7:15am, so we had to wake up at 5am. So yesterday was a very, very sleepy day. After I got home from work we just lay around watching family guy episodes, snoozing and losing.

I should have a plethora (I think a plethora means a long board with a nail in it) covered with pictures and videos up sometime over the weekend (and hopefully catch up on all the past activities that never got added to the site). That’s the plan, Stan (Stan, if you’re reading this, let me know what you think).

Lawn mowing sucks when you haven’t done it for about a month.

I bought Hollywood a new workout journal thing, so now she can track all the weights she does while at the gym. I’ll put it into an excel spreadsheet eventually so she can see purdy graphs of her progress and be all motivated by it. That’s the plan at least.

Cyrus (Bernard Robichaud), from Trailer Park Boys fame, was giving Hollywood and me a lesson in golf today! For about 10 mins he was waving his club around explaining how me and this other guy can get rid of our ridiculous slice. You know how he talks in his commanding, authoritative “fuck off, I got work ta do” voice? HE ACTUALLY TALKS LIKE THAT!

Oh yeah, also, me and Hollywood played golf today. We were supposed to play with a friend of Hollywood’s from work and her boyfriend, but after we went to the driving range they got all warm (cause it’s about 33 degrees out) and went to the beach instead. Not us though, after our pep talk with Cyrus we wanted to get right out there!

It was fun, lots of walking in the high heat though, but we started playing by OUR rules, which made it fun. Next time we’ll bring more than 5 balls each though.

$83.60 is ALL MINEEEEE!!!!! Weeeee!!!

With my winnings I bought another $10 in 649 tickets, a bistro frozen dinner thing, some bread and mayo to make tuna samiches (which were delicous by the way) and a couple of peaches. Man, this is the good life!

In other news, Hollywood bought a bikini today for tannin’ and has a big sunburn on her face. :)

For Hollywood’s birthday I gave her a 6lb tub of protein, Ocean’s 12 and two small lightbulbs to replace a burnt out lightbulb in her nifty indirect light thingy that goes on our entertainment system in the living room. Then we found out the light wasn’t just burnt out, the lamp wasn’t working. I also gave her a card of a kitty with googly eyes.

For supper we went for a motorcycle ride out to salisbury (about a 25 minute drive from our place) and ate at the irving big stop. That’s right, I take my woman to a trucker-joint for her birthday! Nothing but the second-best for MY woman! But really she chose that spot, so I’m not in trouble. Honest.

After work I raced home on the bike to pick up Hollywood for a ride on the bike, it was TOO nice of a day to waste! I waxed the chain while Hollywood suited up, then we sped off to centennial park where we went for a walk and played aerobee. This is the perfect time of year, it’s 15 degrees out which means is not too hot (because I overheat easily) and there are no bugs outside! The world seems a nicer place when there’s no bugs. I hate stupid bugs, and average intelligence bugs. Heightened intelligence bugs I don’t mind so much, because they’re smart enough to leave me alone.
